About Seasonal Boat Slips

The Parks Department is responsible for issuing and maintaining seasonal boating license agreements for slips located at Tanner Park in Copiague and at South Great Neck Road in Copiague. Marina boat berths are rented on an annual basis for the boating season which commences annually on April 15 and ends on November 15. Boats are not permitted to remain in the water after November 15.

  • South Great Neck Road & Tanner Park Floating Dock: $50.00 per foot
  • Tanner Park Main Dock: $60.00 per foot

Please Note: The Town of Babylon rents boat slips only at Tanner Park and South Great Neck Road in Copiague. The Town does not manage or provide rentals at any other marinas or docking facilities. Inquiries regarding private boat slips or slips operated by other municipalities must be directed to the appropriate property owner or governing agency. For information about transient boat slip availability at Cedar & Gilgo Marinas, please visit the Marina Docking webpage.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must be Town of Babylon residents and the registered owner of the boat. The following documentation is required:

  • Current New York State Driver's License
  • Current New York State Boat Registration
  • Copy of a current property tax bill or utility bill (gas, water, electric or sewer) with matching name & address to license & registration
    • Phone, cable, or internet bills are not accepted

We DO NOT accept federally documented boat papers. All boats must be registered with NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. For a full list of accepted proof of residency documents, please see the Proof of Residency Requirements (PDF).

Apply for Waitlist

To join the waitlist for a boat slip at Tanner Park or South Great Neck Road, please complete the Tanner & South Great Neck Road Waitlist Application (PDF) and submit it, along with a copy of your NYS driver's license and NYS boat registration, to the Parks & Recreation Office at 151 Phelps Lane, North Babylon.

Renewals

Renewal for current boat slip holders begins each December. Renewal packets are mailed directly to current holders and must be completed and returned to the Parks Department, either in person or by email, no earlier than the first full week of business in January and no later than January 31.

Please note that renewals cannot be accepted and payments cannot be processed prior to the first full business week of the year. Failure to submit the renewal packet by the January 31 deadline will result in forfeiture of the slip, and the holder will be required to reapply through the waitlist process to obtain a new slip.

Slip Transfer Requests

Current slip holders who wish to move to a different slip location may do so by completing and submitting a Tanner & South Great Neck Road Transfer Application (PDF) to the Parks & Recreation Office. Transfer is not guaranteed and will only be approved if space is available, with assignments determined by slip availability and the size of the applicant's boat.
