Planning & Building New Application System Now Live

The Planning & Building Department has transitioned to a new online application system, making it easier for residents, contractors, and applicants to submit and track applications digitally.

As part of this transition, the Town will temporarily pause the acceptance of all Planning and Building applications and documents from January 27 through February 1, 2026. Beginning February 2, 2026, all applications and supporting materials must be submitted online through the Town’s new system.

No online applications will be accepted through the Seamless Docs software that is currently used for some online applications beginning January 23, 2026, as the Planning Department transitions to OpenGov. Please note that the Seamless Docs applications online will not be accessible after January 23.

The new platform allows users to submit applications at any time, track application status in real time, and make payments securely by credit card.

Due to the system transition, the following boards will not meet during the month of February:

- Zoning Board of Appeals
- Planning Board
- Rental Permit Review Board
- Accessory Apartment Review Board

Access to the online application system is available on the Town website.

A message from the Planning and Development Department

Our system is currently down as we are upgrading to a new online permitting system called OpenGov. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept any payments, documentation or schedule any inspections at this time. Beginning February 2nd you will be able to apply for all Planning and Development applications and access any existing applications through our online portal. The portal will be linked on our website (TownofBabylonNY.Gov). In the meantime, please feel free to create an OpenGov account. Keep in mind that our portal will not be available until February 2nd. Further instructions will be posted on our website. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to connecting with you online!

Please see the contact information for our Departments listed below. If you currently have an open application, please create an OpenGov account. Once we are live, please e-mail the department to gain access to your application. The e-mail must be from the original applicant and include the address associated with the OpenGov account. You will have the option to add additional guests to your application.
