CLEAN Program

CLEAN ProgramProgram Overview

The Town of Babylon CLEAN Program is an initiative, spearheaded by Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer, which aims to tackle the pressing issues of litter and overgrowth in our public spaces. Through a comprehensive approach, we’re committed to enhancing the beauty of our town while ensuring the health, well-being and safety of our community and environment.

Our Mission

At the heart of the CLEAN Program is our mission to clean up all public areas of litter and debris as well as manage plant overgrowth throughout the town. By organizing regular clean-up efforts supervised by the Department of Environmental Control, we're dedicated to creating a cleaner, safer, and more attractive environment for all residents and visitors.

Key Objectives

  • Clean-Up Operations: Deploying dedicated teams to identify and clean public areas in need of attention, including litter removal, vegetation trimming, and overgrowth management.

  • Transparency and Accountability: Providing regular updates and progress reports through social media platforms and our official website, including before and after photos of cleaned-up areas. Additionally, property owners will be billed for services rendered, ensuring fair and equitable distribution of costs.

  • Strategic Planning: Implementing a structured workflow to streamline operations, from site identification to billing processes, ensuring efficient and effective management of resources.

CLEAN Before AfterProgram Implementation

  • Site Identification and Cleaning: our teams conduct regular inspections and rely on feedback from the public to identify areas in need of clean-up. Once identified, dedicated workers are dispatched to clean the area thoroughly, addressing litter, overgrowth, and other environmental hazards.
  • Progress Tracking and Publicizing Results: before and after photos of cleaned-up areas are taken to track progress, and regular updates are provided to the public through social media platforms and local news outlets. This ensures transparency and accountability throughout the program.

  • Billing Property Owners: the Department of Environmental Control maintains a record of property owners whose properties were cleaned up, and they will be billed for the services rendered. This ensures that the costs of maintaining public spaces are shared equitably among the community.

Program Schedule

Our program follows a detailed schedule outlining specific tasks and locations for clean-up activities. From maintaining cloverleafs and medians along major roadways to addressing specific areas like highways, underpasses, and downtowns, we cover a wide range of public spaces to ensure a comprehensive approach.
